Grandma’s Calico Beans

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF
  2. Brown bacon, beef and onions.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients. Stir.
  4. Place in covered casserole dish and bake for 1 ½ hours.

Can a recipe be considered vintage? If so, then this one is! Open a few cans for this old-fashioned, simple, hearty, stove top bean dish, a potluck favorite. Even better on day 2!
Recipe Substitutions
Use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. If you don’t like lima beans (but they are great in this recipe), use extra kidney or any kind of canned bean instead. You can use frozen limas, no need to thaw, just throw them in.
