    Position Summary – anticipated to work about 24 hours/week

    Responsible for building connections with the public and building their retail and meat department work experience. This position will be focused on supporting all aspects of our Meat & Seafood and Prepared Foods departments, assisting our customers by providing information about our products, answering customer questions and supporting our various departments within the location. Demonstrates a commitment to providing customers with exceptional service.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities
    General

    • Handles customer purchases with care and attention to detail throughout transaction.
    • Provides exceptional customer service through sampling, informing, listening, and engaging with our customers.
    • Operates the cash register, with a focus on friendliness, accuracy, and efficiency.
    • Assists in maintaining a clean and organized Meat & Seafood department and backroom conditions, ensuring a positive and safe customer experience.
    • Follows all food and work safety guidelines.
    • Ability to interact successfully with the general public.
    • Assists with other departments and at other Basics locations as needed.

  • Cheese Lead - PT (Hillsdale)

    Position Summary anticipated to work about 30 hours/week

    The Cheese Lead will be responsible for helping customers with cheese selections and pairings, sales generation within the department, maintaining food safety and quality control, and merchandising of specialty cheese products. They are also responsible for stocking and receiving cheese (cutting, wrapping, pricing cheese, and general care). Additionally, the Cheese Lead is responsible for maintaining an organized back stock area, tending to and maintaining the product in our aging rooms and keeping the cheese section organized. The Cheese Lead should stay informed on all current cheese information including regions, different milk types, ages, styles, terminology, current trends, and help to disseminate this information to customers and other staff members.

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Stay informed on all current cheese information including regions, different milk types, ages, styles, terminology, current trends, and help to disseminate this information to customers and other staff members.
    • Maintain our aging cases and inventory.
    • Maintain an organized and properly rotated cheese section and storage spaces.
    • Ensure that all products are properly priced
    • Ensure that all cheeses have accurate signage – with the name of the cheese, the milk type, rennet type, and a brief description of the product. Maintain organized storage of signage.
    • Remain current on all cheese-related information by attending tastings, taking notes, and asking questions.
    • Maintains professional vendor relationships.
    • Assists with other departments and at other Basics locations as needed.

     

    Additional Position-Specific Responsibilities  

    • Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through as needed.
    • Stocks and rotates products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
    • Cleans, trims, packages, prices, rotates and stocks department products.
    • Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
    • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of products throughout the department and understanding of culinary terminology, product labeling and common dietary restrictions.
    • Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers and credits.
    • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.

    • May participate in other activities, such as inventories.
    • Responds to and follows through on emails and other communications in a timely manner.
    • Notifies Manager On Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security or any other situation that may have an adverse effect on the store.

    • Previous ordering/inventory management experience preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of local, domestic and imported cheeses strongly preferred.

    Position Summary anticipated to work about 37.5 hours/week

    Assists with the coordination and execution of Produce department operations, including ordering and inventory control. Cleans, trims, packages, processes, rotates and stocks produce. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative environment.

    • Orders produce according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs. Maintains appropriate inventory levels to achieve sales and margin goals.
    • Guides the work of department clerks, including planning and assigning work, ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity.
    • Partners with store management team to maintain excellent department conditions, including appearance, cleanliness, signage, staffing and service levels.
    • Assists customers with product selection. Shares product knowledge with customers. Makes recommendations and suggestions based on customer needs.
