Meat Clerk (FT)
Position Summary
Responsible for building connections with the public and building their retail and meat department work experience. This position will be focused on supporting all aspects of our Meat & Seafood department, assisting our customers by providing information about our products, answering customer questions and supporting our various departments within the location. Demonstrates a commitment to providing customers with exceptional service.
Duties and Responsibilities
General- Handles customer purchases with care and attention to detail throughout transaction.
- Provides exceptional customer service through sampling, informing, listening, and engaging with our customers.
- Operates the cash register, with a focus on friendliness, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and organized Meat & Seafood department and backroom conditions, ensuring a positive and safe customer experience.
- Follows all food and work safety guidelines.
- Ability to interact successfully with the general public.
- Assists with other departments and at other Basics locations as needed.
- Contributes to a positive and supportive work environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as cooperatively within a team.
- Gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner. Responds to feedback in order to improve performance.
- Understands and follows through on verbal and written directions.
- Observes all company rules and policies.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Assists with other departments and at other Basics locations as needed.
Customer Service
- Engages the customer in a friendly manner, shares product information and seeks opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience.
- Adapts service based on customer needs, handles difficult customer situations and seeks solutions to delight the customer.
Additional Position-Specific Responsibilities
- Helps maintain accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge of products throughout the department and understanding of culinary skills and terminology, product labeling and common dietary restrictions.
- Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers and credits.
- Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
- Maintains the organization, rotation and cleanliness of customer facing and back stock areas.
- Helps with other department activities, such as inventories.
Education and Qualification Requirements
- GED or equivalent High School Diploma, college degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of Meat Department or Deli experience.
- Valid Food Handlers Certification or must acquire within 30 days of hire.
- Previous ordering/inventory management experience preferred.

Produce Lead (FT)
Position Summary
Assists with the coordination and execution of Produce department operations, including ordering and inventory control. Cleans, trims, packages, processes, rotates and stocks produce. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative environment.
Primary Responsibilities

- Orders produce according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs. Maintains appropriate inventory levels to achieve sales and margin goals.
- Guides the work of department clerks, including planning and assigning work, ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity.
- Partners with store management team to maintain excellent department conditions, including appearance, cleanliness, signage, staffing and service levels.
- Assists customers with product selection. Shares product knowledge with customers. Makes recommendations and suggestions based on customer needs.
- Works with Store Management to understand and respond to current store trends.
- May oversee the Opening and Closing duties of the department.
- Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations, highlighting featured/unique/seasonal items.
- Complies with all company organic standards.
- Maintains professional vendor relationships.
Additional Position-Specific Responsibilities
- Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through as needed.
- Stocks and rotates products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
- Cleans, trims, packages, prices, rotates and stocks produce department products.

- 2 years’ food service, retail or grocery experience required.
- Previous produce experience in a retail, farm or distribution environment preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Previous ordering/inventory management experience preferred.
- Valid Food Handlers Certification or must acquire within 30 days of hire.

The position will focus on assisting our customers by providing information about products, answering customer questions, and supporting our various departments within the location. Utilize previous retail experience along with a commitment to providing customers with an exceptional service experience.
