  • Meat / Seafood Buyer

    Achieve operational excellence assisting store management with overall meat/seafood program, food safety, and department condition best practices. Work closely with President of Basics, Dayton Meats, Wild Rose Logistics, and store management to ensure perfect execution. Maintain and exceed company standards for customer service, merchandising, inventory, ordering, staffing, product quality. Constantly be aware of competition and ensure Basics offers competitive retails on the same or better-quality merchandise. Evaluate and provide feedback on Basics Meat/Seafood program, opportunities, product mix; outline improvements and execute at store level. Steward department financial success, set goals to exceed financial budgets with sales and margin to drive gross profit dollars. Develop and standardize an outrageous Value-Added (V/A) program for Basics that creates value for customers, maximizes profitability, is consistent from store to store, represents changes in seasonality, and uses Wild Rose product whenever possible. Develop and maintain positive vendor relationships to ensure best service and pricing for Basics Market.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Merchandising
      • Works with Department Managers and Store Managers to improve and ensure product mix is seasonally appropriate and focuses on a vertical integration business model.
      • Ensure case sets and organization is visually appealing, easy to shop, cut to specifications and fresh.
      • Works with department managers on appropriate ordering strategies to support customer needs and seasonal applications to grow sales and keep product fresh.
      • Instill a case theme that fits the company’s vision of being natural, fresh and local.
      • Supply instruction through clear written and verbal communication.

     

    • Buying/Intracompany liaison
      • Buys external products to fit store buying needs in balance with product that is being produced within the company.
      • Makes and executes plans to move higher supply items from intracompany production areas.
      • Monitors details of department sales to ensure product is focused on vertical integration to avoid ordering redundancies.
      • Negotiates with new and existing vendors to hold the best prices possible.
      • Sets retail prices resulting in successful profit margins.
      • Works with USDA production facilities to maximize store satisfaction of product.
      • Procures equipment and set layouts for new and existing stores.

     

    • Training
      • Designs, oversees and engages in training program for meat cutting between stores
      • Train management SOP for ordering, inventory control and production specifications that result in higher profitability and customer satisfaction.
      • Hands on working side by side at each location for in-depth training on daily operation and support.
      • Perform and review yield tests from individual cut tests and quarterly performance to minimize waste.
      • Work with each individual shop and manager to control shrink to expand profit margins. Must be a store-by-store approach based on what is happening at individual stores.  Work with prepared foods team to divert possible shrink to delis to reuse and repurpose.
      • Train and develop future shop managers.

     

    Education and Qualification Requirements

    • Associate degree required; Bachelor degree preferred.
    • 7 years retail protein and or grocery management experience.
    • 5+ years of retail protein experience as a department manager for a retailer, or buyer/merchandiser for a wholesale product distributor or combo of both.
    • Valid Food Handlers Certification or must acquire within 30 days of hire.

  • Market Cook
  • Maintenance Technician

    The Maintenance Technician works closely with the engineering team to address and resolve Basics’ equipment and manufacturing obstacles and mechanical/electrical problems. Performs routine preventive maintenance while minimizing store and equipment downtime. Provides maintenance support for other facilities as needed.

    Essential Functions

    • Primary role is to provide technical and maintenance support to the Basics’ team.
    • Secondary roles include but not limited to troubleshoot problems and eliminate manufacturing constraints in all other entities across Wild Rose Foods.
    • Utilize technical skills and knowledge in electrical/electronics (PLCs, A/C and D/C motors and drives, control logic, schematics and troubleshooting) to support continuous process manufacturing and achieve machine uptime metrics.
    • Maintain necessary parts and maintenance supplies in an organized manner.
    • Implement and document plant preventative maintenance.
    • Demonstrate high level of safety focus and awareness via maintenance actions and support within the facility.
    • Establish positive rapport and provide proactive customer service to all production employees and the operations team.
    • Attention to detail in completing work tasks, cooperative attitude and being reliable and responsible.
    • Supports QA department to ensure implementation of maintenance procedures to protect food product.
    • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of farm equipment.
    • Ensure all processes, procedures and maintenance work and equipment are compliant with state and federal regulations.
    • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during scheduled downtime.
    • Maintain electronic records on all maintenance, repairs to machines, and inventory of equipment and facility.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
    • Subject to “on call” depending upon the urgency of the situation.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    1. GED or equivalent high school diploma.
    2. Experience in understanding technical specifications and schematics.
    3. Minimum 2 years of previous plant maintenance experience working with electrical and mechanical equipment.
    4. Ability to work weekends and holidays.
    5. Ability to work and communicate well on a team.
    6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    7. Intermediate computer skills preferred on programs such as Outlook, Word, and a CMMS.

  • Meat Clerk (Canyon Location)

    The Meat Clerk will be focused on overseeing all operational aspects of our Meat Market, assisting our customers by providing information about our products, assisting in food production, answering customer questions and supporting our various departments within the location. Also responsible for building connections with the public and is interested in the local food economy, nutrition and developing their retail leadership work experience.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Position Summary

The position will focus on assisting our customers by providing information about products, answering customer questions, and supporting our various departments within the location. Utilize previous retail experience along with a commitment to providing customers with an exceptional service experience.
