Toad in the Hole

Ingredients

  • 1 slice thick bread
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Lulubelle's™ Creamery unsalted butter
  • 1/16 teaspoon salt
  • 1/12 teaspoon pepper

  1. Use a cookie cutter or glass to cut a hole in the middle of bread.
  2. Reserve the removed portion to add to the pan.
  3. Break the egg into a small bowl.
  4. Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes. Add butter.
  5. When butter stops foaming, place bread in pan and reduce heat to medium.
  6. Cook 3 minutes and turn over.
  7. Gently drop egg into hole and cook 3 minutes.
  8. Carefully flip egg and bread over, and cook for another 30 to 40 seconds, until egg is cooked as desired.
