Quick & Easy Beef Taco Filling

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Silver Sage Farms™ ground beef patties
  • 1 cup your favorite salsa, we like Late July Mild Organic Salsa
  • cups water
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 8 taco shells
  • Optional Toppings: pico de gallo, grated cheese, shredded lettuce, salsa, sour cream, avocado and/or guacamole

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Heat skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and sauté, breaking up with a spoon to brown on all sides.
  3. Add salsa, water, herbs and spices. Cover and cook for about 8-10 minutes, remove lid and cook about 5 more minutes or until liquid has reduced and mixture has thickened.
  4. Place taco shells on a baking sheet in the center of preheated oven. Heat 3 to 5 minutes until lightly toasted.
  5. Place toasted taco shells, taco meat filling, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo, avocado or guacamole in separate serving dishes. Let everyone build their own tacos.

This versatile filling can also be used as a base for a great taco bowl or a layered Mason Jar taco salad.
