Kafta Kebab

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound Silver Sage™ Farms lean ground beef such as sirloin
  • 1/2 pound ground lamb
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon za'atar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped roasted red pepper
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh mint leaves

Nutritional Information

  • Ground sirloin is leaner than ground chuck but contains more fat per serving than ground round.
  • Lamb is a good source of important nutrients such as zinc, iron, B-12, and high-quality protein.

  1. Pre-heat oven or grill to 350ºF.
  2. Thoroughly mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
  3. Divide into 4 equal pieces and form each piece into a ball.
  4. Form each ball into a log like shape around a skewer. The kebab will measure about 8 inches long and 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Place kebabs on a parchment paper lined or lightly oiled sheet pan or on a lightly oiled, pre-heated grill. If using oven place sheet pan in oven. Cook kebabs about 15 – 20 minutes, to an internal temperature of 165ºF degrees, turning occasionally.
